SIMPSF - COMPTEL Simulated Point-Spread-Function (PSF) Generation
- Version 12 (20-May-1998)
Provides new task parameter to limit the smallest value of the geometry correction.
In the course of normalizing the IAQ with the appropriate
geometry factors, there were times when a very small geometry factor
(<.001) could lead to spikes in, for example, the resulting PSF phibar
distribution. This led to what might be termed 'noise' in the
resulting PSF.
The new version of SIMPSF solves this problem by adding a new task
parameter that specifies a geometry value below which the geometry is
assumed to be zero, leading to no normalization of the FAQ. The
default limit of 0.001 seems to work quite well in most cases. For
cases in which there is relatively poor statistics (small number of
simulated events), somewhat larger values MAY be useful. This
approach works extremely well for cleaning up noisy simulated PSFs.
