COMPTEL Maximum-entropy All-sky Maps
A set of full-sky images of the gamma-ray sky at MeV energies
using COMPTEL data acquired during Phases 1, 2, and 3 of the CGRO mission,
produced by application of the maximum-entropy method.
Three different energy ranges are shown:
1 to 3,
3 to 10, and
10 to 30 MeV.
The maps are presented in Galactic coordinates with the Galactic center at
the origin.
The Galactic plane stands out clearly in all three energy ranges, indicating
the detection of large-scale emission from the Galaxy.
A
finder chart showing the location of several well-known
astrophysical sources is also included.
