Abstract

Most of the high-energy gamma-ray sources within the third EGRET catalogue are accompanied by their spectral index. However, a more closer look revealed, that in various cases single power-law fits show significant difficulties to explain the data between 30 MeV and 10 GeV in a sufficient way. Additionally, deviations from a common spectral index through all available EGRET observations are already reported. This included currently a few AGN, like 3C279 and 1622-297, in different states of activity. Here a detailed spectral study for the EGRET sources outside the galactic plane is presented. In particular, spectral details on unidentified high-latitude sources are provided. Deviations from simple single power-law fits are investigated, and alternative fits are suggested in appropriate cases.
