Hardness Ratio and Galactic Latitude in Gamma-Ray Bursts
G. Pizzichini
Abstract
Galactic distributions of Gamma-Ray Bursts from the BATSE catalog show a
faint excess at low latitudes for harder events and the opposite, that is a
faint excess at high latitudes, for softer bursts.//
The fact that bursts at low galactic latitudes are detected at locations
having a "local background" of x-ray sources is probably the cause of the
difference between the two distributions.
