Greg's research activities are concentrated in the areas of high-energy astrophysics, gamma-ray astronomy, and multiwavelength investigations of high-energy astrophysical sources. He has pursued astrophysical studies across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio to gamma-ray energies.
At present Greg is an active member of the international COMPTEL collaboration; the Imaging Compton Telescope (COMPTEL) is one of four instruments currently in orbit aboard NASA's Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO) satellite. Within the COMPTEL team Greg is involved primarily in studies related to active galaxies and to the diffuse gamma-ray emission from the Galaxy.
As a complement to these high-energy investigations, he has also been pursuing a number of multiwavelength observing projects aimed at addressing questions related to the production of high-energy emission from astrophysical sources, primarily active galaxies. He is currently working with collaborators at UNH and elsewhere on various observing programs involving data from x-ray satellites (ASCA, ROSAT, RXTE), and mm-wavelength radio measurements (MIT Haystack Observatory), as well as new initiatives in very-long-baseline-interferometry (VLBI), including upcoming space-VLBI measurements with the recently launched VSOP satellite.
From 1990 to 1996 Greg wass the COMPTEL Instrument Specialist for the Imaging Compton Telescope aboard NASA's Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. During this period Greg was ``officially'' employed as a staff Research Scientist with the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) as part of its High Energy Astrophysics Program at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, assigned to the COMPTEL research group at UNH.
